Berry season is only a few short weeks out of the year, frozen berries allow us to enjoy the sweet taste of summer year round. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, wild berries, all are delicious, and bountiful for such a short time. Wash fresh berries in lots of cool water, discard damaged berries, leaves, and garden extras. Lay your excess fresh berries out in a single layer, and freeze.
Freeze the individual berries, place them in a ziplock type plastic bag, and store in the freezer.
Individually frozen strawberries and other berries can be stored berries in the freezer for months. Preserve your strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, wild berries so you can use them a little at a time out of the freezer bags.
Frozen berries make great smoothies. Add berries to yogurt, waffles, quick breads, or eat them all by themselves, delicious!

If squirrels are a problem in your fruit trees, cut an aluminum pie pan to fit around your tree trunk. Fasten it with duct tape. This should help slow them down. They can jump 4 feet, so place it as high as possible

Do you have hummingbirds in your yard? Whether you have them in the summer in the north, or winter in the south, take good care of your feeder so the hummingbirds that visit your yard will thrive and return. Hang your feeder away from cats, we even had a coyote on its hind legs stealing a drink!
Keep your feeder clean, and watch these magical little birds in flight and at mealtime. You needn't remove the feeder when the weather turns cold, thinking it may delay their migration. Leave it out for straggling migrators to take a quick meal on their journey. Bring it in when the last hummingbird sighting has passed by two weeks, or freezing temperatures may damage your feeder.

Cut small sections of cardboard tubes to surround your newly planted seeds. This can help you identify which new growth you are looking for. Twist a bamboo skewer onto a cork, label with a sharpie, and know which herbs or plants are which.
